About

# About Ripple Brief

A small set of tools for the moments before and during a talk.

## What it is

Ripple Brief has four free tools for anyone who has to stand up and speak, or sit down and record: an [online teleprompter](https://ripplebrief.buzz/), a [speech length calculator](https://ripplebrief.buzz/speech-length-calculator/), a [speech timer with timing lights](https://ripplebrief.buzz/speech-timer/) and a [slide timing planner](https://ripplebrief.buzz/slide-timing-planner/). They are meant for presenters, students, club members, video makers and anyone writing a toast.

## How it works

Everything runs in your browser. Your scripts, times and plans are worked on by your own device and are never uploaded; once a page has loaded, its tool keeps working without a connection. Settings and scripts you choose to keep are saved in your browser's local storage, on that device only. There are no accounts and no ads. Page views are counted by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies; the [privacy page](https://ripplebrief.buzz/privacy/) has the details.

## About the numbers

Speaking rates are estimates. The slow, average and fast paces are planning figures, and the speech length page explains where they come from and why real speakers vary. The timing-light presets follow the green-amber-red convention many speaking clubs use, described in our own words; Ripple Brief is not connected with any club or organisation.

## Feedback

Ripple Brief is a small independent site with no sign-up and no contact form. If a tool gives a result that looks wrong, the method is explained under each tool so you can check the arithmetic yourself.
